SPIC MACAY brings Purulia Chhau to Doon

Shri Tamal Kanti Rajak and his troupe performed the Purulia Chhau dance of West Bengal for our students: mythology, masks and breathtaking movement.

Doon Public School, Begusarai, celebrated India's rich cultural heritage as SPIC MACAY presented the Purulia Chhau dance by Shri Tamal Kanti Rajak and Team.

Purulia Chhau, the masked martial dance of West Bengal, is a spectacular blend of mythology, vibrant costumes, rhythmic movement and timeless folk tradition. Inspired by Indian mythology, the performers brought legendary characters to life through dramatic gestures, elaborate masks and powerful leaps, every movement telling a story.

“Every movement tells a story.”

For our students it was a rare chance to see one of India's great folk traditions up close, and to understand how dance, music and storytelling carry a culture from one generation to the next. We thank SPIC MACAY and the artists for bringing this living heritage to our school.
